Solution

Time taken by non-pipelined system for $100$ tasks:

$100\times 30=3000\ ns$

For pipeline,

Number of stages:

$k=4$

Number of tasks:

$n=100$

Clock cycle time:

$10\ ns$

Pipeline time:

$(k+n-1)\times \text{clock cycle time}$

$=(4+100-1)\times 10$

$=103\times 10$

$=1030\ ns$

Speed up:

$\dfrac{3000}{1030}=2.91$
